Syllabus
ART II
This semester long (18 week) art class focuses on 3-D art, but we will also be creating a variety of 2-D art projects as well. Lessons in this are based on the four processes of the Kansas Curricular Standards for Visual Arts: Creating, Presenting, Responding, and Connecting. Students will be introduced to the elements and principles of design as well a variety of media, related vocabulary and art history.
Art Journal/Sketchbook
Students are required to keep a journal for vocabulary, notes, and bell ringer assignments. Students will design their own journal covers and assemble their journals at the beginning of the semester. Journals will be checked periodically throughout the semester and is an integral part of each student’s overall grade.
All assignments are given a certain number of workdays. This identifies the number of class times allotted to this project. These assignments will also be given a due date which is several days after the last class time. This allows students to finish up any incomplete work and get it turned in without penalty. Assignments can be turned in any time up until the due date. If students require additional work time outside of class, arrangements may be made to work during activity time or by appointment, if necessary. Some projects may also be taken home as homework.
*Parents: please note some projects in this class may be culturally sensitive in nature. If you have questions or concerns about this topic, please contact me. Thank you.
