I graduated from Southwestern Heights High School in western Kansas in 2000. I then attended Fort Hays State University and completed my teaching degree in 2004. Following graduation, I married Brent, a math teacher and coach, and we moved to Wichita for his new job at Andover High School. I spent a year as a substitute teacher in USD 385 before being offered my current position. I completed my additional endorsement in gifted education through Emporia State University.
I have been the gifted facilitator at Andover Middle and Andover High School since the 2005-2006 school year. In that time, I have also taught or cotaught 6th grade language arts, 7th grade language arts, 8th grade language arts, careers, ELP study hall, RAMP Up to Readiness, and MTSS reading intervention.
As of last year, I have had the opportunity to remain at only one building – AMS! I’m excited to build and expand services for our gifted students with several new gifted facilitators in the district!
My husband, Brent (aka Mr. Riedy), is the principal at Andover High School. He first taught math at AHS in 2004, then moved into the assistant principal/athletic director position for a decade. He enjoys supporting AHS students and athletes at various events. After hours, he spends even more time at fields and courts coaching our kids’ sports teams.
We have three awesome kids: Braxton, Mason, and Jensen. Braxton is a fifth grader at Cottonwood Elementary this year. He loves basketball, football, baseball, fishing, and reading. Mason is in third grade this year at Cottonwood Elementary. He is our helpful, energetic, and kind middle guy. He enjoys working outside with his Papa and building things with random materials. He is also very active on baseball, basketball, and football teams. Our little girl, Jensen, is a fiesty and adorable kindergartener. She loves to play and chase her brothers. I am continually amazed and thankful for my kids!
