Dear students and families,

I am excited to welcome you to the 2017-18 school year at Andover Middle School.  We have been busy preparing the school and classrooms for an exciting year of learning and growth.  We are looking forward to meeting our new 6th graders and reconnecting with our returning students and families.  AMS has amazing teachers, support staff, parent involvement, and most importantly, great students!  It’s a great time to be a TROJAN!

Beginning on Tuesday, August 1st, the building will be open, and students are welcome to bring their school supplies and practice their locker combinations, with parent supervision, during normal office hours (7:30 a.m.—3:30 p.m.).  We are also adding evening hours on August 14 from 4:00—7:00 p.m. for those unable to come during the day (for locker practice only – the office will not be open).  Please bring a printed copy of your schedule with you, as we will not re-print schedules.  We can let students look up locker information on a computer provided they have their PowerSchool login information.

We have a fun day of activities planned just for 6th graders on Wednesday, August 16, starting at 7:50 a.m.  Where Everybody Belongs (WEB) is our 6th grade orientation program.  The purpose of this orientation is to address the needs and concerns of being new to the school through positive and fun activities.   Eighth grade WEB leaders will be serving as mentors to incoming 6th graders.  Busses will run normal routes on this day.  Sixth graders should wear comfortable clothes and take your belongings to your locker before we begin. Thursday, August 17, will be a regular school day for ALL students.

Mark your calendars for the AMS Open House on Thursday, August 24, from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. – watch our website for specific information about this event in the next few weeks.  I hope to see you there!

Sincerely,

Debra Regier, AMS Principal
