Welcome to
Mrs. Haggard’s
7th Grade Math
Late work Policy:
Your assignment is considered late if it is not graded and to me by the end of the school day. You can earn partial credit for all assignments turned in late. You will earn a zero score on any assignment not turned in before the chapter test. If you are absent because of a planned absence or school-related activity, it is your responsibility to get the assignment turned in by the due date.
Make-up Work:
School policy states that students have two days for every day they were gone to make up work due to illness.
Grade:
-Practice work (homework and some in-class activities) is expected for all new skills we are studying. This gives students the chance to experience a variety of problems in preparation for the unit assessment. Practice work counts for 30% of the overall grade.
-Assessments (Including unit tests, projects, quizzes, and some in-class activities) count as 70% of the overall grade.
Corrections:
Students have the option of correcting their homework pages for half credit of what they missed! Must be turned in by the chapter test.
What will we be learning?
7th Grade Common Core State Standards
1st Quarter: Number Systems
2nd Quarter: Expressions and Equations, Ratios and Proportional Relationships
3rd Quarter: Geometry
4th Quarter: Statistics and Probability
Textbook:
This year, we have a math textbook: Big Ideas Math. Students log in through www.bigideasmath.com using Clever. This will include their school email (ex: __________@students.usd385.org) and the password is thier last name and lunch number. Students will be doing their homework ONLINE! It gives them 2 free checks per question, and automatically grades their work and gives instant feedback. There is also an online tutor available on some questions online from 4pm until midnight! Textbooks are also available to view online. What a great tool!!
